Shure SM58 VS BETA 58AShure SM58 or BETA 58A?

12th September 2016

Ever wondered the differences between the Shure SM58 and the BETA 58A? Both are industry standard microphones that are regularly seen on the touring and live band scene as they're both tailored for vocals and can handle high pressure levels. Both microphones are dynamic and are brilliant at rejecting unwanted sound including handling noise, making them ideal for live sound situations. The BETA 58A has a neodymium magnet, making it a higher output than the SM58 and gives you a brighter top end. The SM58 has a cardioid polar pattern, where as the BETA 58A has a super cardioid pattern. Want to learn more about polar patterns? Visit our resource centre.

So there you have it! Those are the differences.... Hopefully we've made it easier for you to make the right choice to suit you.
